SQW Trainees Graduation
Congratulations to the First round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work trainees for 2024 on the successful completion of their 20-week course and graduation last week! A special acknowledgment goes out to the trainees who have secured employment, marking the beginning of their journey into the workforce.
Throughout the duration of the 20-week program, the trainees dedicated their skills and knowledge whilst gaining experience with on-the-job training. This is a practical approach that aligns well with this context as during the on the job training component the trainees immerse themselves in real-world scenarios, learning by doing in a live or simulated work environment. They gain firsthand experience with daily activities, including operating essential equipment and understanding workplace expectations.
Thank you to Cr Sandy Landers (Councillor for Bracken Ridge Ward) for being present to present each trainee with their certificates and always showing your support for Kurbingui.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support and contributions of the following and a special thanks goes to:
- Kurbingui Employment Team
- Department of Employment, Small Business, and Training
- Host Employers: 3rd Space and Koobara Kindy
- Communify Queensland
- Picabeen Community Centre
- Bunnings
- LJ Crete Group- Indigenous Concrete Contractors
- Suited to Success
We would like to thank our Elders for their ongoing support of the SQW program, Uncle John Johnson and Aunty Narelle Adams who provide cultural mentorship to the trainees for the duration of each project.
Your commitment and collaboration have played a crucial role in the success of the program, contributing to the personal and professional development of the trainees. Once again, congratulations to our Graduates, and best wishes for your future endeavours in the workforce!
