One of the best ways you can help is by having a yarn, it might be the first step to them getting help. Have a yarn and let our mob know they can ring the Indigenous Family and Child Connect to get some confidential information, advice and support.

How We Can Help

The Indigenous Family and Child Connect is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service for families that need some help.

Workers will listen and give you and your family a hand to get back on track by connecting you with the services you need. IFaCC will always ask a family’s permission before connecting them to a support service.

Workers can connect you to local services that can help with:

Supporting your Child’s Behaviour Needs.
Building Strong Family Relationships.
Increasing safety at home.
Housing, Health Care or other Government or Community Services.
Plan a Budget and Manage Money (bunguu).
Alcohol, Drug or Gambling Issues.

The Indigenous Family and Child Connect service is provided by a trusted local organisation, Kurbingui Youth & Family Development.

Kurbingui staff are very experienced in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community members.

You can use this service as much as you need.

There is no limit and no cost.

Program Benefits

Staff provide group activities and one-to-one support for children, young people and their carers/parents. Supporting our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families is paramount to bridge the educational gap. We aim to increase and maintain attendance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people at school and other learning environments.

Our support ranges across the early years, primary, secondary, tertiary and vocational education communities. The program works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, grandparents, single parents, carers, students and their family members.

What Happens When You Call

You’ll speak with an experienced Indigenous Family Resource Worker.

They will listen to you and your concerns.
They will undertake a full assessment of the situation over the phone with you.
You get the information, advice and support helpful for you.
Workers may be able to help you in one phone call.
Workers may provide a referral for you to a support service.
Workers might arrange to visit you at home or a safe place to talk.
Workers can assist you to connect and talk with a domestic violence support worker.

If you would like to make contact or refer a family or child to your local Family and Child Connect service, you can call: 13FAMILY (13 32 64) and be referred to the closest office.
