The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) at Kurbingui Youth & Family Development is a FREE community-based program supporting families with early learning and school readiness.

Over the two-year program, HIPPY provides home-based activities and guidance to help parents and carers become their child’s first teacher. By building skills and confidence, it empowers families to create positive, nurturing learning experiences at home and fosters a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

Aims & Objectives

The HIPPY program helps prepare children for school by building their literacy, numeracy and social skills, while supporting parents to feel confident and capable as their child’s first teacher. Through fun, play-based learning activities at home, HIPPY strengthens parent–child relationships and connects families with local services and resources.

Trained tutors provide regular home visits to guide and encourage parents, while group gatherings give families the chance to meet, share experiences and support one another. The program is flexible and responsive to the cultural and social needs of the community.

HIPPY Offers
