Kurbingui is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. Our service delivery, practices and processes are accountable, transparent, preventative, child centred and family focused. Everyone at Kurbingui is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people accessing our services.

Cultural safety and connection are inherent to the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. As an Aboriginal Community Organisation, cultural safety for our mob is at the core of everything we do. We support Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander children to grow up safely and in community, family and culture.

As a child safe entity, we have embedded Universal Principle and 10 Child Safe Standards for Queensland (refer to diagram below), as per the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024, and the National Child Safe Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

Child Safeguarding as a Journey of Continuous Improvement

How we enhance the safety and wellbeing for children and young people accessing our services is continually evolving. We learn through our experiences in service delivery, collaboration with Elders, community, genuine partners and other organisations; feedback and complaints from children and young people, their families, community and stakeholders; and research outcomes.

If you have a complaint, an idea or feedback about your experience of children’s and young people’s safety and wellbeing when accessing our services, including cultural safety, we want to hear from you. You can share your ideas and feedback by talking to a Kurbingui staff member, having someone talk to Kurbingui on your behalf, telephoning Kurbingui on (07) 3156 4800 or online here.
