Indigenous Family Support Program
Implemented in November 2010, this early intervention service support to 215 families from a wide case-mix across the child protection continuum. The service focuses on those families requiring an early intervention. The service provides support from a strengths based approach to build parenting skills, promote family well being, and improve attachment between parents and children to reduce risk of entry to the statutory child protection system. Activities delivered include goal setting; personal capacity building and community engagement; specialist workshops in anger management; communication; parenting skill development; access to counselling services.
KYDA employs 6 case managers a team leader and regional manager who service Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families across the Brisbane Region including Stradbroke Island.
