Employment and Training

Kurbingui offers Work Placement  a work-based programs enabling participants the opportunity to get back into a cycle of going to work, restore self-esteem and practice new skills in a work environment in order to maximise employment opportunities .
The Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation funds Kurbingui to provide on the job training, for approximately 20 weeks for the long-term unemployed people and those at risk of experiencing long-term unemployment.
Our construction work placement program is held offsite at a range of community facilities.  Each project has different requirements and participants learn the following:-

• use of power tools  
• concreting  
• painting  
• building styles and techniques.

Our Host Employer project offers a range of learning experiences for individuals. We place our participants into a community organisation for three days per week where on the job skills are learned and complimented with accredited training for one day per week.  Our participants are mentored for 20 weeks and supported into employment when their training is completed.
 Adult Numeracy & Literacy
Kurbingui employs trained tutors to deliver Numeracy & Literacy for Adults.  Numeracy and Literacy is embedded in all projects across Kurbingui.  Within the Employment & Training section the staff provide:-

• A numeracy and literacy assessment  
• Individual support  
• Group learning opportunities.  
•  Volunteer Numeracy & Literacy Tutor Training – for members of the community wishing to assist in tutoring Numeracy & Literacy.
